Urban Landscapes

2018-2019
This project explores my local urban landscapes in Hull and surrounding areas. This work has allowed me to explore places that are familiar to me through the use of paint and photography. Each place I have been able to capture in both medias has a direct connection to me and my family. I have been told countless stories about specific places around Hull from family members that have affected the types of places I choose to capture in photographic form. Through this project I have been able to transform some of the places I see as familiar into layered, unfamiliar locations and create them through mixed media painting. The paintings tell a story of how the once familiar can become unrecognisable.
